Felted camera case

Do you know hine’s etsy shop? She sews the cutest camera and mobile cases I’ve seen so far. Those, for example, I’m obsessed with for quite awhile now.

Since I forgot my camera starting February in a coffee shop in Hamburg, I finally got a new one. But of course I also need a new case to put the one in, right? So I let myself get inspired by hine’s camera cases and created my own little one from felt.

Sketching, measuring, color choosing.

I went for blue felt because my new Canon is blue as well. I liked the green in the inside of hine’s camera as well. But for the outside I still wanted another color and in my opinion the best choice for this was brown.

Furthermore, I adjusted the design to my liking and – voilá – I started sewing.

Thankfully I am living very closely to Edelhoff Kreativkaufhaus (very much recommended, btw.), so I don’t have to go far to get some crafting supplies if I need them and have the urge to make something right now.

With the buttons I just decided to go with what they have in the shop and let myself get inspired by it. All seams I did by hand only for the ones on the site I used my sewing machine. Especially for hiding the lining more in between the felt pieces.

There were some more troubles with the lining: It wasn’t supposed to be to thick, but what I had at home was of course exactly that. So, I had to go on my bike again and get some thinner lining.

Finished. Then I realized, I seriously have no practice in stitching (and do you see how crooked they are?). But I guess, the case looks pretty good after all, at least I am very satisfied with it.

I just love how the blue stitches look on the brown felt. 🙂
