This year I’m finally doing it: A 52 week project.
For a few years now I am following a couple of those and the 365 day projects and I am always surprised by all those beautiful and creative ideas. (Do you remember “A Collection A Day” ?)
After a bit of internet research and thinking I finally got the perfect idea for me: A blanket out of 104 different knitting stitches.
From time to time I encounter those beautiful stitches in books or projects from other bloggers. And then I never can decide which one to use first. Furthermore, it takes a lot of time to use all of those in a complete project, like a pullover or even a smaller baby jacket. So, why not knit 15 cm squares, just like a gauge, with those different stitches and sew them together as a blanket? With this, I finally can try some new techniques.
So, this is my plan:
I am going to knit 15×15 cm squares which means 2 different squares per week. At the end I am going to sew them together in a 8×13 square blanket which contains 13 different colors.
For the yarn I go for Blue Sky Alpaka Silk and knitting with a 4.5 needle. I already got some balls from handmade Berlin.
I guess it’s going to be a bit difficult to always get the perfect square measurements. But let’s just go with it for now and see what’s coming out of it.
With that I would also like to ask for your help: Do you know some great stitches that I would love to use for the blanket?
